The mask project for Gion Festival
Gion Festival has been scaled down this year.
To cheer up Kyoto, the tenugui(a traditional Japanese towel) mask project for Gion Festival has begun supported by many companies and organizations.
This project is making masks with tenugui which was selling in Gion Festival, and distribute masks to restaurants and stores for free. Our goal is to distribute masks to restaurants and hotels as many as we can and wear masks on September 16th and 17th which is the date of Yoiyama and Yamahoko Junko. (the big days of Gion Festival) We hope many people feel and enjoy the atmosphere of Gion Festival.

Sightseeing bus:Skybus Kyoto had been out of service because of corona virus. That restarts the service form September 2nd which is the same month of Gion Festival. Usually Gion Yoiyama route is the most popular for tourists. However, this route is not operated this year. For Gion Festival’s success in the next year, they wear tenugui masks. All they hope is to bring excitement to next year’s Gion Festival.
